The signboard hanging outside The Golden Lion has been deteriorating over the last few years, and we have now taken it down to prevent any further damage.
Friends of the Golden Lion had discussions with the council’s conservation officer and we agreed that the sign needed to come down, as it was in a precarious position, hanging by one corner, and could fall at any time.
Even though the sign is in a bad state of repair it would be unfortunate if it fell and broke up even more.
The sign is now going to be cleaned and will be on display at our upcoming talk taking place during Birmingham Heritage Week
